Shaun climbed into the car saying that she was beat,
and was not able to drive. My contact lens were fogged
from over 18 hours of constant wear, but I agreed to drive.
As I drove down the road, the thunderclouds let loose the
water they had held all night. The drive home was long,
wet, windy and threatening. I strained forward trying to
see through foggy contacts and torrents of rain. All too
quickly the world of human beings and earthly challenges
replaced the magic of the night. The car followed tail
lights and became part of a serpent that wiggled its way
slowly through the stormy desert night.
